World War II, 1942-1943

Sept. 1- I think Bud and Bill got together and went
to Alexandria- about thirty miles from here- looked
all over this afternoon but couldn’t find either of
them.

Somewhere near Leesville, La.

Sept. 2- We have had grand weather here even if it
does rain at the drop of a hat. We slept under the
stars last nite with only a blanket over us. It was
too nice to put up a tent.
Tonite I will put up my mosquito bar- as it is calledlay my head on the tent with the blankets under
me- if it rains I can put my rain coat over the whole
thing.
We had to dig trenches last nite when we got here
and did we sleep good. We are ready to leave now
on a moments notice.
