July 12- Saturday morning we
started out before daylight and I
was put in charge of six men
from our company. As we went
down the street we were
stopped twice by the guards
and had to report to each one
where we were going. I have
never seen it rain as hard as it
did just while we were walking.
Our pants were soaked in a
minute and our raincoats let the
water run down our necks.
When we reached the build
where we were
Part of the first
platoon at ease
to report, I knocked on the
door and when they
answered one man had us
covered with a machine gun
until they saw the pass I held
up- what an awful feeling!
After getting all the targets
up and ready to start. It was
called off because it was
raining too hard. Then we
had to put everything away
again.
We returned to our
company by 8 am and went
through some road tactics.
