Bill at home

June [lost text]Rode out to camp in tanks and
trucks. I was in tank as radio
operator and gunner.
At 8:30 we began our black-out
test- riding over the highway and
then in the countryside without
lights- you could hardly see your
hand before your face. We did very
well for a while but then got lost for
half an hour- our captain missed us
and came after us.
Later we were crossing rivers and
streams- what a thrill- just like
riding the ‘shoot the shoot’ at
Coney Island- only the water
comes in the front. By 12 m. we
were ready to return to our tents
